On the Watertown Seal is a picture of an English Colonist and an Indian exchanging, as peace tokens,  bread for fish.  Captain Roger Clap landed at Nantasket Point in 1630 and rode up Charles River to Gerry's Landing with the first party of Watertown Colonists.

Programs Offered
General Programs

Friday Night Socials
Friday night socials are also organized throughout the year with activities ranging from a hay ride to a movie and snack. Some other events usually offered  are a Varsity Basketball Game at Watertown or Belmont High School, a high school production, and a movie at the Capitol Theater.

Spring

The spring programs that were offered in the past for example were boccie, cycling, tennis, track, volleyball, golf, softball, sailing, water polo, and fitness and weight lifting.

Fall/Winter
The Fall and Winter programs that were offered in the past for example were Saturday Mini-Camp, Bowling, Water Aerobics, Special Olympic Basketball, Floor Hockey and Alpine & Nordic Skiing.

The fundraiser for the Belmont S.P.O.R.T. programs is usually the Easter (April 2-4, 2010) and Mothers Day Flower Sale (May 7-9, 2010) at the Waverly Square Fire Station on Trapelo Road in Belmont.

The Massachusetts Special Olympic Winter Tournaments are held in mid March. This year the Massachusetts Special Olympic Winter Games were held in March 2010. The Summer Games are held June 18-20, 2010.
