On the Watertown Seal is a picture of an English Colonist and an Indian exchanging, as peace tokens,  bread for fish.  Captain Roger Clap landed at Nantasket Point in 1630 and rode up Charles River to Gerry's Landing with the first party of Watertown Colonists.

Post Office Locations
There are two postal locations in Watertown with differing services at each:
  • 126 Main Street
    • Financial operation, customers can mail letters, parcels, bulk mail, rent a post office box, apply for passport (Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm)
    • 18 year-old can sign up for the draft
    • Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Saturday, 7:30 am - 1:30 pm

  • 589 Mt. Auburn Street
    • Financial office only for mailing letters and packages, no boxes for rent
    • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
    • Closed Saturdays

The Watertown Post Office delivers to approximately 15,997 locations. There are 66 collection boxes in town, plus six express mail boxes located at 9 Galen Street (rear), the Watertown Mall, 65 Grove Street, and 602 Pleasant Street, and in front of the post offices at 126 Main Street and 589 Mt. Auburn Street.
