Description:

Set to music, the participants will experience cheering, dance and/or baton twirling. Participants will learn marching, basic twirling skills, cheer motions and dance moves. Focus is on hand-eye coordination, rhythm, and teamwork. Spring session participants will learn a routine for the Memorial Day parade. Instruction is provided by Miss Tracey Gangi Johnson.

Description: Bring a friend or family member to shoot hoops, play a game of volleyball or just get in shape for the next baseball/softball season in our batting cages. This is a great option for those cold winter Sundays.

Middle School Yoga

Description: Younger and older kids will enjoy learning the fundamentals of yoga in a fun and engaging class that is both active and calm. Students will strengthen muscles, build flexibility and challenge themselves with new skills both individually and as a cooperative group. This is an opportunity to explore and learn in a supportive, fun environment and at a brand new facility, Artemis Yoga, in East Watertown.  Everyone can practice yoga – no particular fitness level or experience required and class is tailored by age group.  See you in class!

Description: The Watertown Recreation and Police Department are collaborating to offer a summer street hockey program. The general objectives of the program are to promote sportsmanship and teamwork in a fun and positive setting. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the rules and fundamentals of street hockey such as stick handling and shooting. Registration is on first come first serve basis and all participants must sign up in advance not at the day of the program.

Description:

This program will consist of drills, scrimmage and games. Consistent teams will be selected for a tournament league format. Description: Students will have the opportunity to use the gym for a variety of sports and games such as basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, etc. On occasion we will invite outside vendors to come in to offer more variety to all students.  The objective will give students the chance to work together to organize and initiate games under the supervision of the recreation staff in a safe and positive environment.

Description:

 Recreation Basketball League will play on Friday evenings this winter. The first week of this program will consist of clinics, drills and evaluations and then 4 consistent teams will be selected. There will be a separate league for girls and boys and a schedule of games will be played beginning the following week. The focus of the program is to provide a fun, positive atmosphere with officials and scorekeepers while the participants play their game.

Description: The first week of this program will consist of pick-up games and then the teams will be selected. The teams will be made up of boys and girls from different grades. Description: Students work with instructors who are also professional musicians in the Greater Boston area, perform regularly on their instruments, and have many years of experience teaching children of all ages. This is a tuition based program and is highly recommended for students participating in school instrumental ensembles. Private lessons allow the instructor to focus on the individual needs of each student enabling the student to progress faster and perform in their school ensembles with a high degree of ability, confidence, and enjoyment. One-on-one instruction can help motivate students who are having some difficulties progressing on their instrument and provide challenge to more advanced student musicians.
Students who currently play an instrument during the school day are strongly encouraged to enroll in private instrumental music lessons either through this program or elsewhere. Parents, working with the instructor, determine the length of lessons that best suits the musical needs of the child. Come join the recreation park instructors for a summer filled of sports, games and activities. There will be a variety of sports offered such as wiffleball, kickball, soccer, baseball and 
badminton, as well as arts and crafts for those who need a break from the hot summer sun during the day. In addition to sports, games and arts and crafts, will also take various trips throughout the summer to Canobie Lake Park, Laser-Craze, Chunky’s Theater and Water Wizz just to name a few.


The Show Must Go On (Spring)

Launch is offering a safe, reliable and affordable facility for dodge ball program on Tuesday nights. Teams will consist of six members with the number of teams will be determined by enrollment. Games are played for the first seven weeks and the eighth week we will have playoffs and a championship game.

Launch requires a waiver to participate.

Description:

This program introduces children to traditional wrestling. It will prioritize basic skills of balance, strength, discipline, and technique while having fun. Dual meets and scrimmages will be scheduled mostly on Wednesdays (up to 5 total). No Tournaments.

Description:

Description: This program consists of lessons, lift tickets, and equipment rentals for six Saturday evenings during the winter. The bus leaves the Watertown High School parking lot at 4:00 pm and returns at approximately 11:00 pm.
This is the eleventh winter we have offered this program.
Adults can purchase reduce ski / board tickets at the group rate also.
