On the Watertown Seal is a picture of an English Colonist and an Indian exchanging, as peace tokens,  bread for fish.  Captain Roger Clap landed at Nantasket Point in 1630 and rode up Charles River to Gerry's Landing with the first party of Watertown Colonists.

Vital Records
Copies of Vital Records
Certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records may be obtained from the Office of the Town Clerk in person, during regular business hours, or by mail. The fee for a certified copy of a vital record is $10. If you have additional questions, you can contact the Town Clerk's Office by phone at (617) 972-6486 or by .

You can reach the state office of Vital Records in Dorchester at (617) 740-2600 to find out where a record is located if Watertown does not have it.
